Vietnam Updates: Major Manufacturing & High-Tech Projects Accelerate Industrial Growth

Vietnam is accelerating the development of its high-tech and advanced manufacturing ecosystem — and recent large-scale projects clearly reflect this momentum:

  • Viettel has commenced construction of Vietnam’s first semiconductor chip manufacturing facility at Hoa Lac High-Tech Park (Hanoi), covering R&D, design, testing, and production.

  • FPT is developing a semiconductor packaging and testing (back-end/ATP) plant, further strengthening the domestic semiconductor value chain.

  • ASML (Netherlands) is exploring the expansion of its supply chain footprint in Vietnam, signaling growing global confidence in the market.

  • Kim Long Motor, in partnership with BYD Battery, has launched construction of a USD 130 million EV battery manufacturing plant in Hue. The project will start with a 3 GWh/year capacity, expandable to 6 GWh.

  • THACO INDUSTRIES has inaugurated a 30,000 m² R&D Center (USD 40 million) in Chu Lai, alongside new auto component factories for body frames, high-end automotive glass, and electrical systems — reinforcing Chu Lai as a regional automotive supporting-industry hub.

  • VinFast (Vingroup) continues expanding its integrated EV ecosystem in Vung Ang (Ha Tinh), including an LFP battery cell plant (first output expected in early 2025) and an EV assembly plant (Phase 1 expected mid-2025), forming a closed-loop production system serving both domestic and export markets.

These developments are driving rising demand for precision mechanics, automotive components, automation systems, and supporting industrial technologies — creating substantial opportunities for investors and industrial suppliers.
