The Central Highlands Region Planning for the period 2021-2030, vision 2050 has the scope and boundaries of the planning including the entire administrative boundaries of 5 provinces: Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Lam Dong. The plan sets out the development goal: By 2030, the Central Highlands will become a region of rapid, sustainable development based on a green, circular economy; develop a highly effective agricultural economy, based on science - technology, innovation, and digital transformation; forming a number of large-scale agricultural products with international brands associated with processing centers; become an attractive destination for domestic and international tourists. The planning sets an economic goal: The average growth rate of gross regional product (GRDP) in the period 2021-2030 will reach 7 - 7.5%. By 2030, GRDP per capita will reach about 130 million VND, equivalent to 5,000 USD. The proportion of agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector accounts for about 29% of GRDP; The industrial - construction sector accounts for about 27%; The service sector accounts for about 38%; Product tax minus subsidies is about 6%; TFP's contribution to GRDP growth is about 39%; The proportion of the digital economy is about 25 - 30% of GRDP. The urbanization rate ranges from 37% - 41%; The rate of communes meeting new rural standards is about 85%, of which the rate of communes meeting advanced new rural standards is about 50%.

Thứ trưởng Bộ Kế hoạch và Đầu tư, Trần Duy Đông công bố Quyết định phê duyệt quy hoạch vùng Tây Nguyên thời kỳ 2021-2030, tầm nhìn đến năm 2050 có phạm vi, ranh giới quy hoạch bao gồm toàn bộ địa giới hành chính của 5 tỉnh: Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Đắk Lắk, Đắk Nông và Lâm Đồng. Quy hoạch đưa ra mục tiêu phát triển: Đến năm 2030, Tây Nguyên trở thành vùng phát triển nhanh, bền vững dựa trên kinh tế xanh, tuần hoàn; phát triển kinh tế nông nghiệp hiệu quả cao, dựa trên nền tảng khoa học-công nghệ, đổi mới sáng tạo, chuyển đổi số; hình thành một sản phẩm nông nghiệp quy mô lớn có thương hiệu quốc tế gắn với các trung tâm chế biến; trở thành điểm đến hấp dẫn khách du lịch trong nước và quốc tế. Đến năm 2050, một số tỉnh trong vùng thuộc nhóm phát triển khá của cả nước.
